This week was super crazy. I was emergency transferred last minute to
the Palatka second ward because sister Tryon had to go home for a
transfer do to medical issues. Now I'm in a trio with Sister Warr and
Sister Colson. They are pretty great. It's kinda weird being in a
trio, but super awesome at the same time. We are getting lots of
miracles. We are teaching a family with a deaf daughter and they are
awesome and we really hope we can help the parents so that they can
raise their kids in the gospel. We also found a guy named Bill while
we were knocking doors he was out fixing his car. We asked if we could
show him a video and he said yes just give him a minute to finish what
he was doing. While he finished up he told us about how he really
started to make God apart of his life again when his wife left him. He
has awesome kids that he gets on the weekends and he wants God to be
apart of their life as well. We showed him the because of him video
from Mormon.org and he said that he loved it! He asked if we had
anymore videos about Christ and we gave him a card with the Mormon.org
website and told him about all the videos he could find there. We
talked about how God loves us just as much as he did back during the
times of the bible and so he has continued to give us prophets with
the priesthood who lead and guide us today and how we can pray about
the Book of Mormon and God will answer our prayer. He was so excited
he said that he wanted to come to church with us the next day, but
said he had to work, he said he would make sure to come next week. We
gave him a restoration pamphlet to read and told him next time we
would bring a Book of Mormon to give to him. He asked if we had more
Mormon.org cards. He said he wanted to take them to work tomorrow and
share them with his friends at work. He is so awesome we will get to
see him again on Saturday. We are also teaching a lady from second
ward and I feel a real connection with her. She is a war veteran and
is an amazing women. She served as an army nurse for 20 years. She
suffers from sever PTSD. Six years ago her base was attacked and she
watched as men came in and shot the wounded she was attending to and
killed all the women after doing horrible things to them. She was left
laying on the ground and they thought she was dead. Her two military
service dogs saved her life by laying on her wounds to keep from
bleeding out and licking her face to keep her conscious. It was truly
a miracle. She struggles a lot with what happened, but Christ is
really helped her to heal from what she has lived through and we are
currently working the path to forgiveness for the people that did
these things to her. She is truly amazing. The people of Palatka have
all really gone through so much. Most don't have much, but they treat
us like Queens. A recent convert named George just got baptized about
a month ago. He signs up to feed us twice a month. We know he barley
has any money. Him and his wife life in a tiny trailer and have very
little means. One day we asked him why he feeds us and he said that if
he could he would feed us everyday, but this is the best he can do. It
is so amazing the example he gives me. This week was a good week and I
am so grateful for all the members that have done so much for all the
missionaries all over the world. If you want to do more to help the
work ask the missionaries there is so much you have to offer. You can
go out on splits with them, you can open up your homes for lessons,
you can ask who the missionaries are expecting at church today and
look for them and make sure they have some greeting them and have a
friend in the church. Service brings so much happiness. Without the
blessing from service missions would not be possible. They are hard,
the hardest thing I have ever done. Sometimes I want to just give up
and go home, but then I receive great comfort and blessings. My life
dream was to change the world. There is nothing else greater that I
could do then to help my brothers and sisters be with their families
forever!
Love, Sister Kilpack
